Homestyle Food, Dining Area With Riverside Overlook
Green River is a small town with limited dining options. I saw fewer than five restaurants to choose from, so I decided to give The Tamarisk a try.
One of the restaurant's biggest draws is its location right along the Green River. The dining room has a wall of windows overlooking the water, with booths positioned to take advantage of the view. While the scenery wasn't spectacular, it was something different and definitely the most memorable part of the experience.
The restaurant has an interesting look, with padded booths and hanging lights inside, while the exterior has a classic 1960s- or 1970s-era roadside diner appearance. The menu offers a variety of dishes without focusing on any particular type of cuisine, giving diners several different options to choose from.
Not knowing quite what to expect from the food, I decided to keep things simple and ordered a regular hamburger. It was a good, old-fashioned diner-style burger, better than what you'd get at most fast-food places, but nothing particularly unique or memorable.
Service was good, and the restaurant was fairly empty during my visit. That worked out in my favor, as I had my pick of tables and was able to sit in a booth overlooking the river.
Overall, The Tamarisk was a pleasant stop while passing through Green River. The food was decent, the service was good, and the riverfront setting gave it something a typical roadside restaurant doesn't have. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for the hamburger alone, but the location and atmosphere make it worth considering if you're in the area.— Paul
