  Absolutely Amazing Chicken Fried Steak Meal. 3 The Best I've Ever Had On 1 Plate!

  Black Creek Bar and Grill in Devine, Texas, was a first-time visit for me. I picked the restaurant somewhat at random after reading through Google reviews, where several people mentioned that they had a really good chicken fried steak. I was dining with a business associate, so I told him about the reviews I had read, and we decided to give it a try while passing thru town.
  
  We arrived around 8 p.m., just as the dinner rush was starting to die down, and were seated immediately. We both ordered the chicken fried steak. I got mine with grilled asparagus and creamed corn.
  
  When the plate arrived, the chicken fried steak was a medium-sized portion, not huge, but a good size for the meal. It had a nice golden, crispy, flaky crust covered with country gravy. What really impressed me was that the crust stayed crispy throughout the entire meal, even with the gravy sitting on top of it. The steak itself was moist, tender, seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. The crust was crisp without being overly crunchy, and the country gravy had excellent flavor and was seasoned just right.
  
  The grilled asparagus was also cooked perfectly. It was tender but still had a nice crunch to it instead of being soft or overcooked. It had a really good grilled flavor to it, that was instantly noticeable on the first bite. The creamed corn was another surprise. Up until this meal, my favorite creamed corn anywhere was Rudy's creamed corn from Rudy's Bar-B-Q. I honestly think this one may have beaten it.
  
  The service was just as impressive as the food. Our waitress was extremely attentive throughout the meal. At one point, my dining partner mentioned that the meal didn't come with bread or toast. He wasn't actually asking for any, he was just making a comment, but our waitress immediately asked if he wanted some even though there wasn't any on the menu. When jokingly explained that you need something to mop up the gravy after the meal is done, and she said she was going to see what she could do..
  
  She disappeared for a few minutes and came back with a plate of buttered toast that she said she had made herself just for him. Gave us a whole story about going into the kitchen and being asked what she was doing. I dont know if that was true, or if she was fishing for tips.. But it worked, that kind of personal attention really stood out and made the experience even better.
  
  The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and the price was very reasonable for the quality of the meal. This was probably one of the best chicken fried steaks I've had anywhere. It wasn't the biggest I've had by far, but it was definitely one of the most flavorful.
  
  What really surprised me was getting three standout items on the same plate. The chicken fried steak, grilled asparagus, and creamed corn. I was not expecting to walk into a small restaurant on the outskirts of a small town and come away thinking I'd had some of the best chicken fried steak and grilled asparagus I've ever had, along with what may now be my favorite creamed corn.
  
  Sometimes the best meals are the ones you don't expect, and this was definitely one of those times. I plan to return, but when I do Im not sure how I'll decide what to order. Something new? or this amazing plate I've already had.
