Was Excited To Find A Wahoo's In Texas

What most people don't know about Wahoos is that Wahoos actually started in California as a surfers taco shack. I actually saw the place on a TV show many years ago.

While visiting Vegas I came across a new location which closed before I was able to try it out. A few years later I discovered a location in Austin, which I began frequenting when I was big into snowboarding, as Wahoos embraces the whole surf, skate, & snowboarding culture.

What makes Wahoos different, really different here in Texas is that the Mexican food they offer isn't the Tex-Mex food you normally find here.. its Cali-Mex. Whats that? Seasoned white rice with black beans. Red and Green sauces on enchiladas that have more tomato and lime flavors, and the options of more seafood items than a normal Mexican restaurant.

My favorite plate is 2 shrimp enchiladas, one red, one green sauce. The red sauce is more of a tomato based sauce, more Italian like than Mexican, while the green is a creamy sauce with green peppers and cilantro.

The food is great, its definitely worth a try if you've never had it before. Its definitely different from the Tex-Mex and traditional Mexican food you find everywhere else in Texas.
