Not Bad, But Not Great. Chop Sandwich Is What I Get.
The Choke Canyon BBQ counter inside the Parador Travel Center offers a decent option for a quick bite on the road. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the brisket when I tried it. It’s more expensive than the chop sandwich, and I found it to have less flavor than I expected.
The chop sandwich, however, is a pretty good value, comes unsauced, with pickles, onions, and sauce on the side. The meat has a good amount of flavor, and while there is a decent amount of the fatty brisket mixed in, I actually enjoy it. At a reasonable price, it makes a good snack on its own or can easily become a meal with a side from the restaurant.
Being inside a travel center also gives you plenty of choices for chips and drinks, as an alternative to a side that may require utinsils. Plus there’s a bakery with an assortment of sweets that can sometimes be surprisingly impressive.— Paul
