Average Burger With Fresh Toppings
I wasn't expecting anything to knock my socks off with this one, and that's about how it went. I was staying at the WinStar hotel and decided to check out the cafe on the bottom floor of the hotel part of the resort, keeping my order simple with an Angus burger and fries.
The food took a while to come out, and when it finally arrived the plate was about as straightforward as the order itself, just a burger and fries, nothing fancy. It was served with all the ingredients neatly stacked on the burger, but not smashed down or set off to the side, the fries had a nice golden color to them, and the plate was finished off with a pickle spear on the side.
That first bite gave me decent flavor, but it really was just a decent burger overall, nothing about it set it apart from any other burger I've had. The one thing working in its favor was that the ingredients tasted a little fresher than what you'd get at a lot of other places, which alone bumped the flavor up slightly above average.
Both the burger and fries had decent flavor, and while it wasn't a particularly memorable meal, I never expected it to be in the first place. I don't know if any of the other items on the menu are really amazing, but if the service time from order stayed as slow as it was this visit, that would probably be the biggest factor in whether I'd go back. That said, I'd consider eating here again and trying something else off the menu, so we'll see how that pans out next time.— Paul
