I Saw This Place On Deep Fried Paradise. Had To Try The Chicken Fried Bacon
I saw this place on travel channels "Deep Fried Paradise" where they featured the chicken fried bacon. So of course when visiting we had to order a side of what the place is known for. Located about 15 minutes outside the Texas A&M campus, we were sight seeing, and remembering this place from TV we made the side trek to check it out.
The lunch crowd was pouring in, and aside from the chicken fried bacon this place is known for under-advertising the steak sizes. The small on many items is anything but that. Most of the smalls are larger than your average portion.
We ordered the chicken fried steaks, with a side of chicken fried bacon. I had fries and salad with mine, my lunch companion had the mash potatoes and salad.
I loved the chicken fried bacon, it was similar to eating fried chicken skin. Which is my favorite part of fried chicken. The portion size was enough for 2. You don't really want to eat this as an entree.
The chicken fried steak was above average. The breading was really good, the steak size was huge, the steak in the picture is the "small". The steak was fresh and crisp, the meat was a good thickness inside. This isn't one of those paper thin steaks with an inch of breading.
Due to the lunch crowd service was a bit slow, but there were only 2 waitresses working at the time. I would definitely return back, order the bacon again, but might try one of the steaks the next time around.
I would recommend this place as a good lunch stop if your traveling through the area and want some good deep fried home cooking. They have another location in Bryan.
**Update**
Original visit was to the Snook location which has since closed.
I've updated this review to point to the remaining location in Bryan.— Paul
