This Lubys Is A Buffet Location
Luby’s is a longtime homestyle eatery that’s been serving up classic comfort food for generations. I’ve been eating at Luby’s since I was a child, and it’s one of those places that brings back memories of traditional home-cooked meals. They’ve built their reputation around familiar Southern-style dishes, generous portions, and the ability to put together a meal with a little bit of everything.
One of the things Luby’s is best known for is the LuAnn Platter, which includes one entrée, two sides, and a roll. It’s a great way to put together a complete meal without ordering more food than you need. You walk through the serving line, pick out what looks good, and customize your plate with your favorite meats and sides.
However, something a lot of San Antonians may not realize is that the Luby’s on Walzem Road is a buffet. It’s a unique option for anyone who wants to sample several dishes or go back for more of their favorites. If you’ve always associated Luby’s with ordering from the serving line, this location offers a different way to enjoy the food.
As for the entrées, some of my all-time favorites are the fried fish, chopped steak, and liver and onions. These are the kinds of classic comfort-food dishes that have kept people coming back to Luby’s for years. If you’re looking for sides to go with your meal, the macaroni and cheese and broccoli and cheese are good choices to start with. Of course, part of the appeal is having so many familiar options to choose from, depending on what you’re in the mood for that day.
If you’ve never eaten at Luby’s and you’re craving some traditional Southern-style home cooking, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. Whether you go with a LuAnn Platter or visit the Walzem Road buffet, it’s a good place to enjoy a filling, old-fashioned comfort-food meal.— Paul
