Great Salad, Good Chicken Fried Steak.
Lunch time at the ski resort, theres limited options unless you want to packup and go somewhere., which almost no one does. So we visited Rhodas, a small restaurant at the bottom of the slopes.
The menu had chicken fried steak on it, and me trying every chicken fried steak I come across had to ask about it. I told the waiter I was from San Antonio, and asked him what he thought about the chicken fried steak? he responded, "We've had some Texans tell us the steak is pretty good".
OK then, I'll go ahead and try that, I replied. My salad came out first. Its called the Rhodas Salad and it was amazing. It was a large serving of mixed greens, I believe a mix of dried cherries, fried cranberries, candied walnuts, a white cheese, and topped with a balsamic glaze as it was thicker than a vinegrette.
Next up was the chicken fried steak. I was absolutely surprised, it was actually pretty good. But it appears that shortly after my visit the Chicken Fried Steak was discontinued.
The meal was good, staff were friendly, and service was good. My salad and steak were both better than I would have ever expected. While the food was a bit pricey, that's to be expected when eating at a ski resort restaurant where they have a somewhat captive audience.
I would definitely eat here again if snowboarding on the mountain. I wasn't disappointed the first time, in fact I was rather impressed and surprised. So Im open to trying some more items from the menu.— Paul
