  Pad Thai Didnt Have The Flavor I Had Hoped For.

  I was traveling through Flagstaff and decided to spend part of the day wandering around town. It was a rainy day, and there’s something about cold, wet weather that always makes me crave something spicy. I came across Dara Thai and decided to stop in for lunch.
  
  It was a weekday and the restaurant was moderately busy, but service was quick. I ordered the Pad Thai with a Coke, and it wasn’t long before my food arrived.
  
  I ordered the Pad Thai medium hot. The spice level was definitely there, although it struck me as a little less hot than what I would normally consider medium. The biggest disappointment was the flavor. It just seemed to be missing some of the depth I was hoping for.
  
  The noodles were also noticeably wet and somewhat soupy. I’ve found that Pad Thai can vary quite a bit from one restaurant to another. Some versions are relatively dry, with the noodles lightly coated in oil and a more pronounced stir-fried flavor. Others are much wetter, with a heavier tamarind-based sauce that gives the noodles their reddish color. Dara Thai's version falls into that second category.
  
  The food certainly wasn't bad—I finished the entire meal and was soon back out exploring Flagstaff again. Service was good, prices were fair, and the food came out quickly. If I make it back to Flagstaff, I’d probably give Dara Thai another try and order something different. The Pad Thai just wasn't quite what I was hoping for that day.
