  • ★★★★½ Pork Belly Tacos Visited Jan 21, 2017

Super Small Tacos, But A Good Rooftop View.

This was my first visit to Sanchos, and from what I heard one of the draws here was the nighttime atmosphere and the downtown view. I took the recommendation of a friend and ordered the Pork Belly Tacos.

You arrive directly facing the kitchen and order window. After ordering you are given a number tent to put on your table.

While I was visiting they had a $2.75 beer special, so I ordered a Tecate.

Inside the bar is table area and stage, where some local bands were playing. In addition to the indoor seating there is rooftop deck with several picnic tables that cover the entire roof area. We took the last remaining table to wait for our food. The view from the roof is actually pretty good, and is a good place to just hang out and enjoy some food and beer.

It only took a few minutes for the food to arrive, but the tacos were overly small and lacked even an acceptable portion of meat. An order of 3 was $9 and came with nothing but the 3 tacos. These were 2-3 bite tacos at best. The onion, cilantro and salsas flavor overpowered the flavor of the pork belly. I was thinking to myself that each of these $3 tacos looked like tiny food from a childs toy kitchen. It would take at least 2-3 orders of these before I would consider them a meal.

My friend who had eaten there before commented that the tacos were normally small, but these were abnormally small as far as the amount of meat and toppings on them. He actually contemplated going back to the kitchen to ask what was going on because these were like samples.

The tacos had good flavor, the corn tortillas were really good, but the pure size of them were a major turn off. You can see in the picture the 1/4 slice of a lime is almost as big as all the contents of 1 taco.

Overall it was the cost to portion size that ruined the meal. We left ( still hungry ), and went to a fast food restaurant to order more food.

I would recommend the place as a good spot to hang out, grab a beer and maybe snacks, but I probably wouldnt come here hungry to eat a meal.
