  • ★★★★½ Lamb Sweet Corn Fritters Cornmeal Fried Oysters Visited Jan 21, 2017

Trying A New Restaurant In South Town

On my first visit to Feast, we ordered the Cornmeal Fried Oysters, Sweet Corn Fritters, and lamb. The lamb dish we had that night has since been replaced with other lamb offerings, but the meal was an excellent introduction to the restaurant. Feast is located in the Blue Star area of Southtown, making it a convenient stop if you're spending an evening exploring the area.

The interior is beautifully decorated and has a cozy, intimate atmosphere that makes it a great choice for a date night. The restaurant is dimly lit, and the large glass wall facing the street gives you a nice view of the activity outside while you dine. At night, the combination of the lighting and the view creates a particularly nice atmosphere.

Feast offers more of a tapas-style dining experience, with many dishes served in smaller portions meant to be shared. Most orders consist of roughly four to six pieces, so it's common to order several different items and have them brought out in courses rather than receiving everything at once. I estimate ordering about 4-6 plates to create 2 full meals for 2 people.

We started with the Cornmeal Fried Oysters, which came out crisp and nicely seasoned. They had excellent flavor without the breading overwhelming the oysters. The order contained 4 pieces.

Next came the Sweet Corn Fritters, which were probably my favorite item of the meal. They were packed with flavor and had a great texture, and they were served with a cream cheese jalapeño sauce that added another layer of flavor. They made a great shared dish and paired nicely with the other items we ordered. The order contained 6 pieces.

Finally, we had the lamb. It was cooked just right, remaining juicy and full of flavor with a nicely crisp outer surface. While that particular lamb dish is no longer on the menu, the restaurant has continued to offer other lamb dishes since then.

Overall, I had an excellent dining experience at Feast. The food was excellent, the service was good, and the nighttime ambiance was a big part of what made the meal enjoyable. The tapas-style format also makes it a fun place to visit with someone else, since you can order several dishes and share them rather than being limited to one entrée.

Most entrées were priced in the $9–$15 range at the time of my visit, so I'd expect to spend around $35-50 per person with drinks, depending on how many dishes you order.
