Mexican Seafood, Spicy Rice, Decent Prices
Golfo de Mexico is a Mexican seafood restaurant that offers a nice change from the typical fried seafood places you find around town. Many of the entrees come with spicy rice or fries, and the menu has a distinctly Mexican influence that sets it apart from other seafood restaurants.
I've eaten at this location several times while working in the neighborhood, and I've tried the fried fish, fried oysters, and shrimp plates. One thing that stands out is the thin breading on the fried seafood. It gives the seafood a different texture and lets more of the fish come through rather than having the breading dominate the meal.
The menu has a good selection of seafood dishes, so there are several options to choose from depending on what you're in the mood for. Whether you're looking for fish, oysters, or shrimp, it's a good alternative when you want something a little different. The prices are reasonable, too, making it an affordable option for a casual meal.
The restaurant itself is fairly basic. You're not coming here for an upscale atmosphere or a fine-dining experience, but that's not really the point. It's a casual place to grab lunch or satisfy a craving for seafood with a little Mexican flavor.
One thing I've appreciated about my visits is the service and preparation time. My food has come out in a reasonable amount of time, and the service has been good. That makes this a convenient option when I'm working nearby and want to get lunch without spending too much of my break waiting for my food.
Its a solid choice for an affordable, casual seafood meal with a Mexican twist. The menu offers a good variety, the prices are fair, and the food and service have been consistent during my visits. I'd happily return when I'm in the area and looking for a quick lunch.— Paul
