Good Fettuccini Alfredo, Decent Pizza, Good Prices.
Chicago's Pizza has a good variety of food, but the item people really come here for is the pizza. Its not uncommon to see people eating in either. Chicago's has a dining area inside, nothing fancy but convenient for those in the area wanting to go out and grab a bite to eat. You can always call in your order so its ready when you get there.
The pizza is cheap and popular with the college crowd and neighborhood. This place is constantly cranking out pizzas and I know of a few nearby businesses that buy from here to feed their staff and customers. They offer regular thin crust pizzas here as well as Chicago style which will feed a few people each. When you order one of the thick pizzas here you will know why people up north call them "pies". If your not sure what to order, just ask, staff is always willing to tell you which items are prepared thin and thick.
But in addition to the pizza they also one serve some other Italian items. I've had the Fettuccine Alfredo a few times, the portion size on this is huge and I've never finished a to go order in a single sitting. The cream sauce is a bit rich, but has great good flavor and tons of it. I've also tried the Lasagna one time, which was good, but had edges that were a bit overcooked. Portion sizes on all the entree items here are good.
If your looking for some authentic, deep dish, pie style pizza this is the place to go. The thin crust pizza is good as well, as are the entree items. Time from order to table or pickup can be across the board from, a few minutes to an hour, which is my only complaint, but the pizza here is worth the wait.
Chicago's is a place you have to try at least once. To many its a taste that takes them back home. Theres only a handful of places offering pizza like this in San Antonio.— Paul
