  • ★★★★½ Shrimp Tacos Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Visited Dec 11, 2014

Good Food, Lots Of Spicy Options, And The After Ski Crowd Gathers Here

Its been a while since I last ate at Kips, but the several visits I've had were all memorable. Located in what used to be a house on the main street its a quaint location, with a screen door at the front, a bar on one wall and a few tables for dining.

The food selection here is pretty good, and all the items I and my snowboard buddies have ordered have all been great. We've had the shrimp and fish tacos, the stuff jalapenos, and the chips & salsa.

I had one instance where the stuffed jalapenos were comically hot. Were talking one bite and done.. Then trying to put the fire out. But on other occasions they were completely edible.

It can become a bit cramped inside as this is a really popular place in the evening. On one occasion we ate at Kips because a snow storm had rolled in and travel was pretty limited, even though it was really coming down outside, Kips was packed with people.

If your staying in downtown Pagosa, and not wanting to travel far for food this is a great place to eat and drink.

The après (after ski) crowd also congregates here during the ski season, so if you arrive pre-dinner in the 3-5pm range, also expect a small crowd of people during that time as well. This places only slow-ish time of day is during the lunch hours and pre-dinner in the non ski season.

Prices are fair, its located right as you come into town and even when busy service is pretty good.
They also have a Creede location on the other side of the mountain which is why this is marked as chain.

I thought I had some more photos, and some of the food, but havent been able to locate them.
