Visited To Try The 1/2 & 1/2 Po-Boy I Saw On Man Vs Food
Saw the Acme Oyster House on an episode of Man Vs Food. They were having a sandwich contest across the US and the 1/2 & 1/2 made the list for some of the best sandwiches.
While I was visiting New Orleans I decided to make this my dinner stop after walking Burbon Street, since its located just a few buildings over.
We had a bit of a wait to get in, about 20 minutes or so of standing on the sidewalk. Once seated we were waited on pretty quickly and our food arrived at the table about 15 minutes later.
My half and half Po-Boy looked pretty good. The flavor was good, but compared to other shrimp or oyster sandwiches I have had elsewhere, it wasn't the best. The oysters and shrimp were crispy, but the batter didnt really have much flavor to it. The sandwich itself was simple, with just tomato & lettuce, and the portion of shrimp and oysters a fair amount, but not overflowing from the sandwich. It was enough that there were no empty sandwich bites.
Prices were a bit high, but this is one of the favorite dining spots in downtown New Orleans, and there's a bit of a premium attached to it because of that.
If dining in downtown New Orleans again, I would probably return to try another item. The sandwich was good, but didn't do it for me. I saw some other peoples items that looked pretty good.— Paul
