Pretty Small Taco, Nothing Like The Menu Photo
I was at the airport early and had some time to kill, I decided to buy some breakfast and use the time to eat before boarding. I was surprised to see Steak 'n Shake open, I was unaware they even had breakfast items. Unfrtunately it was not a great introduction to Steak 'n Shakes breakfast.
The picture on the menu showed a taco folded over, but what I received had so little egg and sausage inside that the tortilla was practically rolled up on itself. It was only about three bites, and most of those bites were tortilla. It also wasn't because they were busy, I was the only person ordering and waiting for food. Luckily the taco wasnt very expensive, so I had also added a side of hashbrowns.
The egg and sausage had very little flavor, and the hot sauce was really the only thing that gave the taco any flavore at all. Even before adding the hot sauce, there was liquid running out of the taco. It almost seemed like the eggs had been sitting in a steaming container and were overly wet.
Even with the hash browns added, I can hardly call this a meal. It felt more like a sample-sized breakfast taco accompanied by a few tater tots. Ohh yeah, the hashbrowns were tater tots.
For roughly $5, I something considerably better. More food? better flavor? Between the tiny portion, lack of flavor, and watery eggs, I regretted choosing Steak ’n Shake for breakfast.
On the flip side, I wasn't planning to have breakfast, and I never plan to be impressed by food at the airport. So its not like this derailed my morning. It was just a pretty poor experience.— Paul
