Surprisingly Good Mexican Food
We visited the All American Diner while traveling through Ruidoso and were pleasantly surprised by the food. We originally stopped in for a late breakfast, but since it was getting close to lunchtime, I decided to try one of their Mexican plates instead. I wasn't expecting much, especially given my experiences with Mexican food outside of Texas, but the food turned out to be quite good.
The enchilada plate food had good flavor and, more importantly, it was actually prepared properly. The seasoning and spices were well balanced, and the food had the kind of flavor I would expect from a decent Mexican restaurant back home. Everyone in our group was happy with their meals, whether they ordered breakfast or lunch items.
Service was also good. Our orders came out quickly, with very little time between ordering and having the food on the table. The staff kept things moving without making us feel rushed, which was especially appreciated since we were there during that transition between breakfast and lunch.
What I liked about the All American Diner is that the Mexican food wasn't simply something added to an otherwise typical diner menu. The food we tried was legitimately good, while the restaurant also did a great job with the traditional diner-style breakfast and lunch offerings.
Not only did they have decent Mexican food, but they seemed to do a lot of things well across their menu. If you're visiting Ruidoso and looking for a hometown-style diner with a broad selection of food throughout the day, I'd definitely recommend giving the All American Diner a try. It's a good option whether you're in the mood for breakfast, lunch, or something with a little more Southwestern flavor.— Paul
