Decent Buffet - Average Quality Entrees, Decent Steaks Cooked To Order
I've been eating at Chopsticks for over a decade, and while the menu has changed a little over the years and some items have been discontinued, the overall food quality has remained fairly consistent. The selection is good, the food is generally enjoyable, and service is decent, although it can be inconsistent.
The buffet offers a nice variety, including a decent sushi selection, a steak grill with grilled peppers and onions, a wide range of Chinese entrees, and a few American options for kids or picky eaters. Many of the entrees are pretty good. While this isn't the highest-quality Chinese food you'll find, it's on par with or better than many other Chinese buffets around San Antonio.
One disappointment on my most recent visit was discovering that the fried cheesecake was no longer available. It was one of those items I enjoyed seeing on the buffet, so hopefully it makes a return.
Service has always been hit or miss. Sometimes the staff refills drinks and clears plates promptly, but other times they seem to disappear before you can ask for anything. I've even had them stop by while I'm getting another plate, only to be gone again by the time I return to the table.
Occasionally, there's a wait to be seated, but that usually happens on Friday nights. Despite a few shortcomings, Chopsticks remains a reliable option for a Chinese buffet with plenty of variety, and after more than ten years of visits, the consistency is a definite plus.— Paul
